FAISALABAD: Ecumenism and interreligious dialogue are fundamental steps of life, essential in a country like Pakistan, said participants in a recent interreligious meeting held in the diocese of Faisalabad, Pakistan.

Father Nisar Barkat, head of the diocesan Commission for Interreligious Dialogue and Ecumenism, noted the meeting, held in Sahiwal, was attended by Christian religious leaders, Muslims and Sikhs and representatives from civil society.

The group agreed on the need to form a path of profitable interreligious relationships, aimed at dialogue and communion, in order to defuse fundamentalist and extremist impulses and educate the public, reported the Vatican news agency Fides.--ucannews.com
