PENANG: The choir members of St Theresa from St Michael’s Church, Ipoh, made a visit to the Divine Mercy Church (CDM) in Sg Ara on July 26.

They stopped first at St Anne’s Church in Bukit Mertajam for Mass and devotions. For many of them, it was the first time they had been to the Church of the Divine Mercy.

Upon arrival, the group, which also included non-Catholics, was greeted by the parish priest of CDM, Fr Martin Arlando, its parish pastoral chairman Rodney Gomez and Roland Victor, the chairman of the parish advisory team, as well as many parishioners. Many felt touched at the warm welcome given by the people and Fr Martin.

The trip was made in anticipation of the Year of Mercy next year. The Choir members handed over 400 special Bible brochures in English and Chinese to Fr Martin for CDM parishioners.

The bible brochure is the brainchild of St Theresa’s choir, printed by them as a contribution for parishioners of SMC on Bible Sunday.

Each brochure has an introduction to who Jesus Christ is, and easy bible references to the miracles and parables of Jesus. It also depicts the symbols of Jesus, the titles of Jesus in the Old Testament, Gospels and Acts, and in the Book of Revelations. There are also the Seven “I am” of Jesus, and Jesus’ Seven Words from the Cross.

Since the choir members arrived just before the 3.00pm Divine Mercy devotions, they were given a brief talk on the beginnings of the Church of the Divine Mercy, its growth and parish activities and events.

They later joined CDM parishioners in the Divine Mercy devotions.
