LANGKAWI (Herald Malaysia): Ave Stella Maris in Langkawi is one of the chapels that comes under the parish of St Michael. The faithful are those who work in the hotel industry, including the private and government sectors.
On March 28, Youth Chief, Joshua Rozario, organized a campaign with the theme, We are Brothers, responding to the call of Pope Francis. The campaign was aimed at fostering closer ties amongst the people from the various ethnic groups. The Youth Chief and members of the Church gave out basic necessities and financial assistance to those in need.
The event was enjoyable, said Colin Rozario, Alex Chan, Mrs Madelyn Tan Rosario and John Kuppusawary.
In 2014, a similar campaign was organized during the month of Easter, to provide basic necessities to the villages in the Ladang Sungai Raya area. Fr Marshall Fernandez asked the committee members to seek out two to three poor families and provide them with assistance in this Year of Mercy.
