KUALA LUMPUR (Herald Malaysia): The Archdiocese of Manila thanked the people of the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur for the donation of USD 199, 851.16 for the relief and recontruction work of the places hit by Typhoon Yolanda.

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle in his letter to Archbishop Emeritus Pakiam on May 8 explained that all the money received would go towards the long process of rehabilitation in the ten dioceses most badly affected.

Cardinal Tagle explained that in order to safeguard the donations from misuse and abuse, there was a screening process for all projects. Proposals and funds would be released in stages based on the progress of work with reliable financial and social audit.

“Once again I thank you in the name of the people of the ten dioceses where your help has been and will be channelled. We ask you to continue praying for all of us as we face the arduous and long task of rebuilding homes, schools, churches, lives and dreams. I pray that the Risen Lord may grant you peace and joy,’ he said.
