Aunty Sophia’s days may be solitary, but her spirit is anything but lonely. Though depending on the goodwill of her neighbours, she embodies a quiet strength that speaks volumes of her resilience.
I was deeply moved by Aunty Sophia’s story. It reminds us of the importance of looking out for our elderly neighbours and how a small act of kindness can make a world of difference in their lives. I am grateful to have had the chance to participate in this program. It opened my eyes to the struggles of the elderly living alone. I was struck by her faith and showed me that God is always there for us. I would like to join more volunteering organisations like SSVP. They truly do make a difference. – Knigel
In the midst of life’s storms, there is a young family, weathering the storms of a debilitating accident. The husband, once the pillar of their home, now leans on the collective strength of his wife, children, and their caring community. Together, they remind us that even in the darkest hours, love and determination can be a guiding light.
Visiting this family was truly an eye-opening and incredible experience for us. It made us realise how grateful we should be. Seeing the resilience and strength of Madam Yogeswari, despite her circumstances was a humbling experience. This programme reminded us of the importance of gratitude and giving back.
The dedication and passion of the SSVP volunteers have been incredibly inspiring, a reminder that even small acts of kindness can have a big impact. – Anneliica, Group Leader
Mr Chan is a tireless collector of recycling items. The students experienced some of the hardships that this gentleman encounters daily, and it presented an excellent opportunity to help them understand the challenges faced by individuals in marginalised communities, particularly those who earn a living through recycling.
The outreach programme enabled us to understand and know the needy. It also helped us as a group, to work together and complete the given task. – Kelvin Nathans, Group Leader
The students also met Dennis, a living testament to the power of resilience and determination, who graced our project with his presence. Despite facing physical challenges, he rose above adversity to become a Paralympic swimmer. His story serves as a reminder that the human spirit knows no bounds and that with unwavering dedication and passion, dreams can be achieved.
Dennis’s journey to success is a story of determination and passion. It is inspiring because, despite all the obstacles he faces daily, he has not let that deter him. He went on to become a sportsman. It is also a testament to the patience and love of his family. This outreach programme made us realise how blessed we are and how we can use our blessings to help others as well. – Judah, Group Leader
