KRAKOW: The enrollment for World Youth Day, which will begin July 25, is as rampant as ever with more than 1,000 youth registering an hour during the day on June 30.

June marked the end of the regular pilgrim sign-up and last minute registration will run from July 1-22 for individuals and small groups of under 150 persons.

So far, the countries with the most enrolled for the youth encounter are Poland with close to 170,000 people, Italy with more than 77,000, 34,353 in France, Spain with over 30,000, and there are more than 27,000 registered from the USA.

As a result, the most popular languages present will be Polish, Italian, Spanish, English and Portuguese.

For the first time in history, there are WYD pilgrims from Kosovo, Bangladesh, Palestine, Myanmar and South Sudan.

The first country to register when Pope Francis opened registration last summer 2015 was Spain and the last to join was the U.S. Virgin Islands. They represent two of the 187 different geographic regions who will be present in Krakow.

More than 10,000 priests will accompany groups or go individually, along with 800 bishops and 47 cardinals from 107 countries.

This year's World Youth Day is sure to be a true international experience. Those attending will not only have an opportunity to see the Pope and Krakow, but will gain an interesting perspective from people in countries all around the world. --Rome Reports
