BAGAN SERAI, Perak (Herald Malaysia): A one-day Seminar on Social Awareness and Community Leadership organized by the Ex-Young Christian Workers was held in the parish of St Joseph recently. Alfred Vengedasalam, who has been in this field for many years, was the main presenter.

This seminar was a motivational boost for all, especially the youths. The objective of this programme was to provide the young people with a picture of the social reality and its challenges, as young Christian persons prepare themselves to lead and respond, strengthened by spiritual values and leadership qualities. In his talk, Alfred spoke about the realities of Malaysian workers, their future and asked the youth if they were ready to face the future. He highlighted how the country was going through a tremendous change and youths should read the signs of the times. They should equip themselves to face the future. Like Jesus, today’s youth and Catholics should also reach people marginalized by society, who live under difficult situations and to help those in need.

Fr Arulnathan Joseph, the parish priest, was present for the sessions and thanked all the organizers, Mary Joe and her team, for the presenting the seminar.
