SUBANG JAYA: Christmas is a time for all Malaysians, regardless of ethnicity and religion to come together and have a joyous time of merrymaking, said Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin (pic).

“The spirit of moderation is the one thing that binds us together. While we may be different in terms of ethnic groups, cultures, traditions or religions, we are one, and we are Malaysian,” he said during the Christmas tea hosted by the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) at Subang Jaya on Thursday.

“Being Malaysians, we have to ensure that this country continues to be a peaceful one. Times are very challenging.

“The future that we have to face together is going to be much more difficult, in issues like economy and race relations.

“There is a need for us to get together in whatever platform that we have to share our experiences,” he said.

He also urged unity in facing challenges in the year ahead and in resolving issues in the best possible manner.

The event was also graced by foreign dignitaries, Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali, members of the Selangor state government alongside leaders of different religious groups. --The Star
