Ordination of new Philippine bishop in Tarlac set
Archbishop Socrates Villegas of Lingayen-Dagupan, president of the Philippine bishops' conference, will ordain Father Enrique Macaraeg as bishop of Tarlac Diocese on May 24.

MANILA: Archbishop Socrates Villegas of Lingayen-Dagupan, president of the Philippine bishops' conference, will ordain Father Enrique Macaraeg as bishop of Tarlac Diocese on May 24.
Pope Francis appointed Macaraeg, who served as vicar general of Lingayen-Dagupan, as bishop of Tarlac on March 31.
Father Macaraeg studied philosophy and theology at the University of Santo Tomas. He was ordained a priest on May 19, 1979.
He has served in various parishes in Quezon City and in the province of Pangasinan.
Father Macaraeg will be installed as Bishop of Tarlac by Archbishop Giuseppe Pinto on May 31.
Tarlac Diocese comprises the whole civil province of Tarlac in the Philippines. It has an estimated population of 1.2 million with 887,089 Catholics. The diocese has 52 parishes under seven vicariates.--ucannews.com
