Fr Johnny Raju, the assistant parish priest of Holy Trinity Church, administered the Sacrament of Baptism to 23 infants on Sunday, Oct 11.
Prior to the Sacrament of Baptism, Sr Anita Philip fsic facilitated a catechesis session on the responsibility of parents and godparents on 4th October.
In his reflection, Fr Johnny reminded all parents and godparents on their responsibilities towards their children. He said, “Parents are the first heralds in the family for their children to know God. Parents and godparents are to impart the knowledge of the faith as teachers and models in the home. Neglecting this responsibility will definitely cause children to waver in their faith in the future. Teach your children in their early years how to pray, and help them know and experience the church from a young age. This will help them to understand and show their respect towards their faith as they are growin up.”
Nothing and no one can replace the influence and example of a parent on the spiritual life of a child.
The parents and family members were very grateful for this wonderful session in their journey of faith with their children.
The rite of infant baptism ended at 3.30pm with a photo session with Fr Johnny Raju.
