KUALA LUMPUR: In an age where digital interactions often overshadow meaningful face-to-face connections, many of us yearn for a deeper sense of purpose and belonging. Despite the constant connectivity that defines modern life, feelings of loneliness and isolation remain prevalent. To bridge this growing disconnect, a CHOICE weekend retreat was held from August 9 to 11, bringing together 36 adults for a transformative experience centred on open communication and personal growth.
Through workshops and group discussions, participants explored the importance of authentic relationships, navigated the challenges of contemporary life, and reflected on the vital role of faith in personal development. Honest sharing allowed participants to break through barriers like fear, past wounds, and societal expectations, fostering genuine connections and personal transformation.
As the weekend concluded, participants gained more than just a renewed sense of purpose. The CHOICE Weekend offered lasting change, empowering them with the clarity and confidence to face life's challenges with faith and grace. This transformation is best expressed in the words of those who experienced it firsthand.
Dereen shared, “Attending the CHOICE weekend was an incredible experience. It gave me the chance to reconnect with my faith and reflect on my spiritual journey. Connecting with others was uplifting, and the weekend was truly fruitful, helping me realign my life and better understand myself. I also made new friends. I left feeling renewed, inspired, and with a stronger sense of purpose. I highly recommend this program to my family and friends.”
Shini expressed, “I had a great time and learned many positive things. Experiencing CHOICE weekend for the first time and being part of Christianity has been wonderful. Thank you to the team for creating these opportunities.”
Jessmine reflected, “I must admit that I could not, in my wildest dreams, have imagined the impact the CHOICE experience had on me. Since my CHOICE experience, I have noticed a change in me. It may sound like a rouse to gain more pledges, but I have come to notice the similarity amongst CHOICE pledges that I am beginning to see in myself. I value my relationships with greater fervour and I have a newfound serenity that is difficult for me to explain with mere words. I hope I have said much what CHOICE is truly about and should you ask me what it is, I have but one response “join in and find out for yourself!”
Nicholas said, “Returning from the hilltop to the plain, where the sun’s rays touch everything — those three days were a true sanctuary, shielding us from the heat of life’s challenges.”
These heartfelt testimonies remind us of the powerful impact of the CHOICE weekend in drawing people closer to their faith and to one another, anchored by the motto “To know, to love, to serve,” the programme deepens participants’ understanding of the value of relationships - whether with family, friends, the Church, the community, and God. If you’re seeking to reconnect with what truly matters, consider joining us for the next CHOICE weekend. It is open to single adults aged between 24-40 years old and the next CHOICE Weekend will be in 2025, dates to be confirmed. For further enquiries please email [email protected]. Shireen Pereira
