SIC parish celebrates feast day centred on Salt and Light

The Church of St Ignatius celebrated her parish feast day on Sun July 31 with the theme Salt of the Earth and Light of the World, with preachers Fr Nicholas Hoh OCD and Fr Christopher Loh OCD.

PETALING JAYA:
The Church of St Ignatius celebrated her parish feast day on Sun July 31 with the theme Salt of the Earth and Light of the World, with preachers Fr Nicholas Hoh OCD and Fr Christopher Loh OCD.

The nine-day novena began on July 23, with the recitation of the Rosary, novena prayer to Our Lady and St Ignatius followed by Mass.

The sub-theme for the first day triduum which began on July 29, was Salted in Jesus – Purification of Faith by Living in Holiness. Fr Nicholas celebrated the Mass in English in church while at the same time, Mass in Mandarin was celebrated by Fr Christopher at Costantini Centre.

On July 30, about 150 parishioners attended the feast day retreat from 9.00am to 4.00pm. Fr Nicholas led the English retreat while Fr Christopher did likewise for the Mandarin retreat

During the sunset Mass, Fr Nicholas shared what it means to be Lighted in Jesus – Witnessing by Sharing Faith the sub-theme for the second day of the triduum.

On the final day, Sun July 31, at the 6.00pm multilingual Mass, a procession was led by ministry and BEC coordinators. The theme was Family – The Living Faith.

Parish priest Fr Lawrence Ng CDD presented tokens of appreciation to Frs Nicholas and Christopher for their assistance and thanked the BECs and ministries which helped in organising all the activities.

The CDD priests including Fr Andrew Wong (Provincial Superior of CDD in Malaysia) were concelebrants at several of the Masses. Fr Philip from Kenya celebrated the 11.15am Feast Day Mass in Mandarin.

Other activities included a blood donation campaign held at the cafeteria and a jumble sale held at the covered car park organised by the Parish Integral Human Development Ministry and the Family Life Ministry Craft Group. — www.stignatiuspj.org
