The Beating Heart of Mercy was the theme chosen for this year’s Christmas Party, in line with the Jubilee Year of Mercy.

The English Catechetical Team of the Church of St. Theresa (STC) Melaka organised a Christmas Party at Puteri Resort, Ayer Keroh, 19th November, especially for the Lower and Upper Primary Students whose ages ranged from 7 to 12.  The catechists were at the party to lend their support, and as a way of showing their appreciation for all the hard work these young students had put in in their effort to understand their faith.  56 students took part in the event.

The registration began at 9.00am and students gathered in the ‘Fine Taste’ Hall before being escorted to the pool area for the games at 9.45am.  To add to the mood of the event each student was given a Christmas headband and had a rib bon tied around their wrists for easy identification.  Utmost safety for each child was a priority for this event.  Catechists also had fun while keeping vigilant at all times.

The highlight of the morning was the games at the pool area, conducted by Captain Norizan and his team.   His dynamic personality captured the hearts of the children who were very excited at the prospect of going into the pool. Teamwork among the children was necessary in order to win the games.  The children were divided into two groups according to their age namely, age 7 to 9 and age 10 to 12 (lower primary and upper primary).

At 11.30am, the STC carollers, complete with Santa Claus, entertained the children with Christmas songs.  It was certainly an atmosphere of love and joy, culminating in the building up of the body of Christ. Most students loved dancing  to the tune of the Christmas songs. Some students were very shy and had to be coaxed to join in the fun. It was their day where they were free to interact with each other and do what they do best, and that was, to enjoy themselves.

A buffet lunch was served at noon in the Hall. Prizes were given out to the winning teams for the pool events and every student had a Christmas gift pack to take home. There were calls from the students to have more games but they will have to keep their enthusiasm till 2016! This was also an opportunity for the Catechetical Team to come up with new ideas, and perhaps more games, for our energetic students for next year’s Christmas Party.

This event was made possible by the many sponsors who donated so generously in kind and in cash and we thank you so much.
