Vocation promotion is everyone’s responsibility in our Catholic Church. The Archdiocesan Vocation Promotion Team (AVPT) recently visited the Church of the Holy Family (HFC) with their ‘Vocation Roadshow’, with the objective of promoting Priestly and Religious Vocations in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur.

The AVPT Team was led by its Vocation Director, Diocesan priest Fr Christopher W. Soosaipillai and included Fr Andrew Wong CDD, Sr Angeline Poh FMM, Sr Elizabeth Jothee FSP, Sr Savari Arokiam FdCC, Sr Angeline Ganapragasam FMDM, Sr Patricia Lim, Sr Grace Chiong, Sr Latha Napuri (from India), Sr Margaret Pereira, Clarice Jouslin and Paulo Epi (both Aspirant from RGS), Sr Santhamary IJS, Bro Joachim Heng, Bro Anthony Cheong FMS and Clara Paul, auxiliary of the Apostolate.

Fr Chris, in his homily, said that we must accept everyone into our community, regardless of race or gender. After the homily, Fr Chris invited the Religious to share their own personal vocation stories.

After each Mass, many took time to view the Vocation Exhibition that was setup at the Church’s foyer. The AVPT Team had their hands full answering the questions of those seeking clarifications and asking or inquiring for further details or information about the priesthood and religious life. Leaflets on the various religious congregations were also distributed. Prayer cards were also available.

A vote of thanks to Fr George Harrison, the HFC parish priest for his willingness for the AVPT Team to be here to share and promote vocations. The family is the cradle for vocations and parents play an importance part to awaken in their children the call to the priesthood and religious life and to motivate them to sacrifice their lives for the service of the Church. Vocation is also a gift from God. Hence everyone needs to play their role in ensuring there are adequate young men and women joining the seminaries and convents.
