Catholic Students’ Group – Untuk Melayani Sesama  (CSGUMS) organised the 21st Youth Missionary on March 6-7, 10 and 13-14 with the theme, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” from the Acts of the Apostles 3:6.

The Board of Directors has taken a different approach in this new normal which was previously known as ‘Youth Missionaries into the Village’ which was more focused on serving in selected areas.

This year, Youth Missionary has changed the programme according to the new norm by organising activities that can be done at home and virtually. The programmes are Little Things with Great Love and Stay at Home and Love Your Family.

They organised these programmes so that the youth can serve with their families or communities. They also have a “Foster Siblings” activity by sharing several activi ties together and “A Night to Remember”.

The You are the Now of God – Becoming a Witness of Christ session presented by Sr Jossie Sili helped the participants to see the reality of the world through God’s eyes and also to adopt an attitude of caring and sincerity in their actions.

In the second session by CSG-UMS alumni, Shella Sijan touched on the Little Flower of Jesus. She shared the meaning of serving and gave the example of St Therese of Lisieux. Through the example of St Therese, participants are brought to imitate the example of St Therese’s ministry and gave reassurance to them that deeds are not measured by greatness but by the love that accompanies those deeds.

At the end of the programme, participants were reminded that their service did not end here and they were given encouragement to continue to serve God in this new normal. — Catholic Sabah
