KG PANDAN (Herald Malaysia): Fifty five parishioners with youths numbering some 40 acted as cast and crew to stage a Passion Play;entitled I died for you, will you live for Me? at the Chapel of Our Lady of Good Health (OLGH) on Palm Sunday evening. The chapel was packed with the faithful who witnessed the hour long passion play that concentrated on the events of the final hours of Jesus Christ’s passion .

The play in English had also three reflections for the faithful to ponder and to reflect. Youths, adults and parents each led in the reflection. The first was at the Last Supper (reflecting on reverence to the Eucharist); the second at the whipping (reflecting on the many times we have nailed Jesus by our acts of sinfulness); and the third reflection at the end of the play (reflecting on the overall effect of the passion itself). This was followed with the singing of the hymn Be Not Afraid Fr Christopher W. Soosaipillai who is the OLGH Chapel Administrator congratulated all those involved in staging this Passion Play of Christ that had assisted the faithful to come to know Jesus Christ who suffered for our sins by dying on the Cross to set us free. Fr Chris was also the Spiritual Adviser for this play. The background music, sound and light effects, clear narration made the play effective. Many were touched and a few were seen with tears welling up in their eyes.

Ivan Perry, acting as Jesus Christ, was the main focus of the passion play. The costumes and props were designed by Jason and Marvin, also youths. They came up with their own ideas. It had been the youths’ idea to come up with this passion play with the support of Fr Chris and the parishioners, from OLGH and the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. (SHC). The participants of the play were from OLGH and SHC.

After having gone through so much pain and dying on the Cross at His cruxification, Jesus was raised from the dead on Easter morning. That’s what gives meaning to all that He went through- His act of saving all those who believe in Him.
