SIBU: More than one thousand representatives of religious organisations attended an appreciation function organised by Unit For Other Religions (UNIFOR) or Unit Hal Ehwal Agama-Agama Lain, Jabatan Premier Sarawak, UNIFOR Bahagian Sibu at Kingwood Hotel, November 14.

Right Rev Joseph Hii Teck Kwong, Bishop of Sibu led the prayer taken from Philippians 4:6 that “in everything, we tell God by our prayer and supplication with thanksgiving for His abundant blessing upon us”..... Sarawakians and for our Premier Abang or “Brother” Jo in setting up UNIFOR to enable “unity in diversity” to work together respecting one another for a better, prosperous and peaceful life to live and for future generations.

Our Premier of Sarawak shared that all religions teach “each one to be good” and he hoped that all Sarawakians are proud of the “uniqueness” of each different culture and religion and to respect and protect the “sacredness” of each other’s culture and religion and even to strengthening this Sarawakian “hybrid” or blended culture. “Let us stay blessed and be a blessing to all no matter one is Baha’i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Taoist or Muslim.” — Social Communication Team Diocese of Sibu
