Update on SMC’s mission

St Michael’s Church has completed many of the targeted tasks in its parish project to help the Orang Asli community in the outskirts of Ipoh.

IPOH (Herald Malaysia): St Michael’s Church has completed many of the targeted tasks in its parish project to help the Orang Asli community in the outskirts of Ipoh.

Among these are the completion of a new lavatory for the community, installation of a 40-inch television at the chapel cum community hall, putting in a stainless steel basin with steel rack, installing water filters for existing taps, delivery of basic provisions such as rice, meehoon, and biscuits to the community and handing out stationery sets to the Orang Asli schoolchildren.

The parish has also serviced the generator for the chapel. A talk on reproductive health and teenage pregnancies as well as a medical camp has also been held.

In progress are the installation of LED lights and battery sets for households, and repair of solar generators.

Some of the upcoming tasks are to supply and install plastic sheets for roofing buffer and the construction of a new freshwater dam with connections to distribution pipes.
