On February 25, 2017, over a hundred youths gathered at the Church of St Thomas More (STM) to celebrate STM Youth Day: SEEK, a one day event which marked the opening of the various youth ministries for the year.
Organised by the parish’s Youth Council consisting of the Teens’ Ministry, Lifeline College and Young Adults Ministry and City of David Working Adults Ministry, the event invited the many youths present on a journey to seek God amidst the numerous distractions present in their daily lives.
The afternoon featured a series of skits, talks and workshops which aimed to help the youths discover how to overcome the various obstacles faced in this quest to search for God. These sessions also delivered the message that, while temporary pleasure may be found in worldly things, true and everlasting fulfilment is only found in the Lord.
The evening saw the youths come together for the event highlight, a night of praise, worship and Eucharistic adoration led by the FIT Ministry worship team of the Servants of Yahweh Covenant Community. The night then culminated with a keynote speech by compelling and charismatic speaker, Jude Antoine, who invited the youths to trust, have courage and take steps towards seeking a deeper and more meaningful relationship with Christ. He also delivered the message that support from the community would play an essential role in helping one to grow in a journey of faith.
It is hoped that this event managed to stir the hearts of the youths present to reprioritise their lives, to put God’s Kingdom first.
