BUTTERWORTH:
Around 20 youth from the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Sts Chastan and Imbert gathered for the pizza night at the Nativity Café July 23.

The aim was to bring the young people together for a night of bonding and fellowship after a two-year break due to the pandemic.

Parish priest, Fr Dominic Santhiyagu, started the night with a prayer and a reading from the Gospel of Luke (11:1-13). He asked the youth about prayer and shared a few methods in which they can pray to God such as reciting the Rosary, participating at Mass, singing worship hymns. He then invited all to recite the prayer Jesus taught his disciplesthe “Our Father”.

Following that, Fr Dom introduced the new Youth Leaders — Angela Tomas for Tamil Youth, Lawrence Soon for Mandarin Youth, Yohann Prakash for Junior Youth and Hemandra Prasat a/l Josef as the new parish Youth Coordinator replacing Nicholas Ooi. Fr Dom hoped that the new leaders would bring the youth together and serve the parish.

There was a variety of food, games and bonding. Several youth had a delightful time making pizzas with Fr Dom at the Nativity Café. It was a memorable night and the youth hope to have more gatherings to strengthen their ties and walk together in faith. — nbvmscic.org
