There is a grave shortage of priests in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur. Presently, there are only about 50 odd active priests (diocesan and religious) serving in the archdiocese, covering five states, with a total estimated Catholic population of 190,000. Several priests have also retired due to old age.
