Merdeka Walk in Klang

The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) together with Kelab Warisan Sungai Klang jointly organised a Merdeka Walk called the Klang Heritage Merdeka Walk 2.0 on August 31 in conjunction with the 62nd Merdeka Celebrations 2019.

About 60 parishioners from Our Lady of Lourdes Church participated in the Walk led by Parish priest Fr Frederick Joseph.

The event was initiated by the Senior Citizens Ministry of OLL Church for the benefit of the parishioners of the Church, and as a show of support of patriotism for the country.

Covering a distance of four km,  the route for the Walk entailed a check-in at 10 chosen Heritage sites of Klang with Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Klang, being one of the Heritage sites for the check-in.

Other sites were Balai Bomba, Gedung Raja Abdullah, Stesen KTM, Galeri Diraja Sultan Aziz Shah, Istana Alam Shah, Little India Jalan Tengku Kelana, Kuil Sri Negara Thendayuthapani, Masjid India and Jambatan Kota, Klang.

About 4,000 people ranging from babies to able bodied elderly persons participated in the Walk.

Blessed with good weather conditions throughout the duration of the Walk, all those who participated enjoyed the event.
