PENANG: The Peninsular Malaysia Ecclesiastical Tribunal-Penang Office reflected on its one-year milestone since establishment by making a trip to the tribunal office of the Malacca-Johor Diocese at the Majodi Retreat Centre. The aim was to foster inter-staff friendship and to learn firsthand tribunal working experiences.

With the vision of “Always observing the canonical equity and keeping in mind the salvation of souls – Salus Animarum Can.1752”, Associate Judicial Vicar Fr Dominic Santhiyagu led the three-day formation and recollection March 11-13, 2019.

Associate Judicial Vicars of Malacca Johore Diocese, Fr Anthony Ng and Fr Damian Pereira, welcomed the group. Fr Ng gave a detailed explanation of the Church’s role in providing the necessary services for the workings of the ecclesiastical court.

He also generously shared with the members of Penang tribunal useful notes and books in relation to tribunal work.

The practical and theoretical lessons afforded to the team were very helpful and will better equip them in assisting persons who come to the tribunal office.

The group also made a courtesy call to the office of Bishop Bernard Paul who welcomed the interaction between the dioceses and impressed upon all that we must serve with true love and give hope to all who come by doing the will of God.

The Peninsular Malaysia Ecclesiastical Tribunal has offices in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur (03-20705878), Diocese of Penang (04-2292742) and Diocese of Malacca Johore (07-3871121).
