Youths from the Church of Sts Peter and Paul had a day called “SPP HEALTH DAY” recently. This health day was to be a day for the parishioners to check on their health. The youth ministry wanted to make this a very useful and helpful day for our parishioners, to raise their awareness on health issues by giving information on various health conditions, how to make better lifestyle choices and also, the nobility of organ donation..

There were several booths :

1. MEDICAL CHECK UP – to check blood pressure, blood sugar level, pulse and cardiovascular system.
2. ORGAN DONATION – to register as organ donors.
3. HEALTHY LIFESTYLE – to know the basics of a healthy and loving life style.
4. EYE CHECK UP – to check the condition of their eyes and to assist them for further treatment.

The event was extraordinary and mind opening for all the parishioners as there was a slight increase in Diabetes, with five new cases identified. By this, we conclude that the “SPP HEALTH DAY” was a success. We were told by Dr Victor that we have potentially saved the future of these five new cases.

This event was a learning curve for the youth ministry. They plan to have this event annually on a bigger scale, to include other churches from the Klang district in our future health day event.

We thank God for the gift of health and we pray that the Holy Spirit will empower us, the youths, to build God’s kingdom here in Banting.
