Belgian King and Queen Meet Pope Francis

Pope Francis met with King Philip and Queen Mathilde of Belgium today at the Vatican.

VATICAN CITY: Pope Francis met with King Philip and Queen Mathilde of Belgium today at the Vatican.

According to a communique released by the Holy See Press Office, the Pope and the Belgian royal couple "discussed the good bilateral relations between Belgium and the Holy See."

"They also focused on issues of common interest," it added, "such as social cohesion, youth education, the phenomenon of migration and the importance of intercultural and interreligious dialogue.”

The King and royals also spoke of some issues of international character, with special reference to the future prospects of the European continent.

Following meeting with Pope Francis, the King and Queen met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, and Archbishop Paul R. Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States. --Zenit
