Confirmation and Holy Communion at Church of Christ the King

“Go and live and share the Gospel of the Joy of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Bishop Francis Sebastian told some 100 young adults who received the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion at the Church of Christ the King, Sungai Petani during Sunday Mass recently.

The Bishop said he was confident that these youngsters would accept the invitation to be missionary disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.

“Jesus and I are sending you out as missionaries of the gospel. It is up to each and every one of you to be responsible for fulfilling this mission with much generosity,” he said to a packed hall of parishioners.

Bishop Sebastian said that our mission was not in the Church where one was fed and received nourishment to grow in the faith.

“The mission field is out there where you live, at your place of work, in the offices, market place and pasar malam,” he said, in urging everyone to go out there to be witnesses of the gospel.

Some 82 candidates were confirmed by Bishop Sebastian, whilst 30 children received the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

Parish priest Fr Nelson Joseph thanked all the catechism teachers who had prepared the children to receive the Sacraments.

There was a fellowship dinner in the church grounds after Mass.
