Here am I, the servant of the Lord, let it be with me according to your word  Luke 1:38 was the  theme for the 21st Campus Day at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Through the theme the university students were invited to reflect on their calling to be fishers of men and to follow Jesus.

The programme began with Mass followed by registration. This was followed by Ice-breaking and praise and worship.

Four workshops were conducted simultaneously on

1. Love,
2. Campus Culture,
3. Learning the other faiths and
4. Learning the other Christian denominations.

Then the participants were divided into groups for the ‘Walk with Jesus’ activity. Each group had to stop at each of the nine stations around the cathedral.

Each station focused on the challenges the campus youth face on their faith. For example, in one of the games, the youths were tested on their listening  skill. While  blindfolded, each member of the group had to focus on his/her leader’s instruction without being distracted by the other group leaders.

The group leaders represent Jesus to lead them in their journey along the nine stations.

This activity also taught them to motivate one another and to be the ears of others.

All the participants were required to share their first impression among their respective groups. What’s compel ling about this activity is that everyone needs the support of each other. They were also exposed to the diverse ways to handle their problems through their family, friends and on their own.

Then the youths wrote their personal commitment and what they expected of themselves. These notes were passed to the facilitator and would be returned to them in the next meeting.

The Campus Youth Day ended with a closing prayer and group photo.
