A total of 33 new and old Altar Servers participated in a brief recollection on March 8 at the Holy Trinity Church led by seminarians Raymond Lee and ArthurJohn.

The programme began with registration at 8.30am, followed by an opening prayer led by the seminarians Raymond and Arthur. The recollection was held exclusively for Altar Servers aged between 12 to 15 years who had received the sacrament of Holy Communion. The purpose of this recollection was to provide knowledge and understanding on the rights and responsibilities of Altar Servers.

Seminarian Arthur explained the role and privilege of being an Altar Server, as well as the responsibilities of being one.

The next session was presented by seminarian Raymond on questions affecting Altar Servers. “Who am I as an Altar Server? I am here to serve. When should I serve? How can I serve?” Seminarian Raymond told the Altar Servers that the attitude of an altar server should be humble, obedient and disciplined. They should be more proactive and have a deep desire to learn more about the ministry.

The following session was on the description and explanation of the sacred vessels used during the celebration of the Eucharist. He took all the participants to the Sacristy to show them the sacred vessels used during the Eucharistic Communion. The recollection then continued with a meeting and election of new committee members of Altar Servers and a rehearsal for the Holy Week and Easter celebrations.
