Jogathon to support dialysis centre

In aid of the Good Health Dialysis Centre, 82 parishioners of the Church of the Sacred Heart participated in a jogathon organised by the parish’s Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP) on October 21. Parish priest, Msgr Stanislaus Soosaimariam, officiated the event with an opening prayer before the flag off at 7.30am.

There were eight categories ranging from children, teens and adults.

The participants competed to win the five prizes prepared for each category. This event was also part of the ongoing Parish Community Month.

The SSVP members and volunteers were delighted with the participant turnout and the community spirit among the parishioners. Special thanks go out to the marshalls who were in control of the timing and checking the results, the Secret Recipe team — for preparing the delicious breakfast, the Rela and Polis Di Raja Malaysia for coordinating road safety, the St John Ambulance for assisting with medical needs, sponsors and many others who helped around the church to make this event a successful one.

Besides the jogathon, other activities like exhibitions by various parish ministries, badminton and carom tele-matches, health screening, eye check-ups, a talk on soil regeneration, a treasure hunt and a cooking competition were held in conjunction with the Parish Community Month. The activities helped increase community awareness and foster a sense of unity among the parishioners.
