KUALA LUMPUR: The Mufti of Wilayah Persekutuan has sent Christmas Greetings to Archbishop Julian Leow.

In the letter, Dato’ Seri Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, praises Archbishop Leow for being an exemplary Christian religious leader who works towards religious harmony, He also recalls Archbishop Leow’s courtesy call to his office on Nov 30, 2016.

“We need to realise that the relationship and unity between us as human beings is based on humanity (insaniyyah) and not on the creedal notion (al ummah al-‘adidiyyah).

It is this humanistic aspect that seeks peace, togetherness and justice that can guide us in appreciating the co-existence of this diversity. All people must realise that in spite of the differences in race, politics and religion, we remain as brothers.

We are born from the same root, Adam and Eve,” writes Dato Seri Dr Zulkifli. “I write this letter with no other purpose but to realise what Allah the Almighty says:

Verily, you will find the nearest in love to the believers those who say: “We are Christians.” (Surah al-maidah : 82 )

“The friendship we have built over the past few years may continue to flourish in the spirit of brotherhood among us and the people of Malaysia.

“May you have lovely and joyful Christmas with your family and all Christians in Malaysia, especially in the Federal Territory.

Dato Seri Dr Zulkifli signs off as “your brother”.
