A small chapel in Alma, Bukit Mertajam recently celebrated their annual feastday of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows. The chapel is connected to the Church of St Anne’s, Bukit Mertajam, under the jurisdiction of parish priest, Fr Henry Rajoo.

Fr Henry spoke on the suffering of our Mother and all mothers in this world. He referred to the kind of suffering a mother faces when she has to bury her son or daughter. Our beloved Mother went through this when Jesus was crucified.

“What does burying the dead feel like to a mother? A mother feels the physical separation profoundly, because she bore the child now lying to be buried. A mother knows that she will not see her child anymore. A great emptiness engulfs the mother during that moment.

“Our Beloved Mother consoles many of us who are in deep pain.”

Since the chapel was celebrating Migrant Sunday, Fr Rajoo prayed for all migrant workers who had left their countries for a better life. “These people need our support. There are many refugees who have died alone, far from their motherland. We pray to Our Lady for consolation for these people.”
