MCYMC embarks on disseminating synod information on new website

KUALA LUMPUR: Pope Francis has planned for the 15th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops to focus on the theme of Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment. The Synod will be held in October next year.

The Archdiocesan Single Adults and Youth Office (ASAYO) has been tasked to reach out and to keep the young people informed on the sentiments behind the Holy Father’s call for the Synod, and to gather information pertinent to the 2018 Synod in Rome via two online questionaires.

The Malaysian Catholic Youth Ministers’ Committee (MCYMC) in all the nine dioceses in Malaysia decided to disseminate the Synod information, together with the questionnaires, together as a single entity. For this, the website talk2francisMY.archkl.org was created. The questionnaires are presented in this website, both in English and Bahasa, for Catholics and Non-Catholics.

The first questionnaire is from the Vatican while the second questionnaire is from the Episcopal Commission for Youth and Campus in Malaysia.

In line with this, ASAYO will organise a half-day talk at selected parishes. Here, the questionnaire made for Malaysian youth and young adults will be handed out. This questionnaire is adapted from the survey released by the Vatican in preparation for the Synod. The synthesis of the data collected from this survey will be sent to the Vatican in December.

ASAYO will also embark on this journey through a series of formations called talk2francisMY.

Due to time constraint, ASAYO will hold one formation event in each district per month. Other parishes can join in via webinars. There will be formation sessions and webinars in other languages too.
