KUCHING:
More than half of the presbyterium have completed at least one dose of the vaccine. They received the vaccination in their respective parishes all over the Archdiocese, Archbishop Simon Poh shared.

“In general, the Sarawak State  Disaster Management Committee  (SDMC) and Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) have recognised  that the various religious leaders,  pastors and priests are taking care of  the faithful at funerals and burials,  which are potentially high exposure religious events that can start  new clusters and are therefore in a  vulnerable position.

Accordingly,  our priests in the parishes were considered for the vaccination programmes when they took place in the rural towns,” he added.

Currently, the Church in Kuching is also helping to recruit volunteers to serve at vaccination centres.  “Our website has links to get volunteers for the Red Crescent and the  Sarawak General Hospital”.

The Association of Churches in Sarawak (ACS) is also offering our Centre for vaccination and will be asking for volunteers to serve, added Archbishop Poh, who is also the  chairman for ACS.

Archbishop Poh has also offered  the St Lukas Catholic Centre in Kota Padawan for use as a centre should the need arise. This is especially for the rural villagers.
