Palm Sunday at Good Shepherd Church

Palm Sunday at Good Shepherd Church began with the gathering of the faithful outside the church to hear the Gospel, the chanting of ‘Hosanna in the Highest!’ and the procession. In unison with the Universal Church and officially marking the beginning of Holy Week, the parishioners gathered to glorify Jesus, the servant King. The Mass was animated by the parish Youth group who magnificently orchestrated all the hymns and Psalms in four languages.

Fr Christopher reminded the people that the palm branches represent the palms of our hands. These palms will be burned later to remind us that we are dust and to dust we shall return. We need to be humble and willing to burn our pride, ego and self-centredness and be more willing to serve with humility.

He also requested the parishioners to listen to the voice of God through Mother Church, her Gospels and the silent prompting voice of the Holy Spirit. He said that Peter and Judas heard Jesus’ warning that they will betray him and yet they succumbed to cowardice and denial when they were tested. Likewise, he urged the people to listen more attentively to Jesus and glorify him by obeying His Word.
