The Perjalanan SALIB will begin on April 3, 2025, during the Malaysia Catholic Youth Day 2025, with a special cross blessed for public veneration. The cross will be divided into nine salibs, one for each diocese, and travel across Malaysia until August 2026.

At the inaugural Malaysia Pastoral Convention 2026, the salibs will be reunited, symbolising the unity of the Church in Malaysia.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia has appointed coordinators in each diocese to oversee the Perjalanan SALIB and ensure its smooth running. Below are the thoughts of the coordinating teams.

Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur
The team hopes that the Perjalanan SALIB will instil a greater sense of co-responsibility between the clergy, the religious and the laity and to promote authentic relationships.

Diocese of Penang
As we reflect on Christ’s final words on the cross, ‘It is finished’ (John 19:30), let us journey together in faith toward the victory of His resurrection. The Diocese of Penang hopes that the Perjalanan Salib will deepen the faith of both clergy and laity, strengthening unity, inspiring repentance, and renewing our commitment to Christ’s ultimate sacrifice. May this sacred journey uplift small church communities, empower families, enrich society, and awaken a greater sense of care for God’s creation.

Diocese of Malacca Johore
May the Perjalanan Salib instil in us the spirituality of friendship, communion and discipleship by adhering to our Lord’s call “To deny ourselves, pick up the Cross and follow Him”

Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu
The team hopes that the Perjalanan Salib will inspire repentance at all levels of society and among the servants of the Church, rooting them in faith in Jesus Christ. Through this, may the Church become a living, active, and courageous witness to the proclamation of God’s love, especially within families and communities, serving as a symbol of unity and strength in the life of the Church amidst the problems and challenges of today’s world.

Diocese of Keningau
Semoga melalui Perjalanan Salib ini membawa semua umat untuk berjalan bersama dan memupuk semangat kesatuan, kesetiaan dan kekudusan.

Diocese of Sandakan
The Sandakan Diocese committee hopes to encourage active participation from the clergy and laity regardless of age, race and multicultural differences, to inspire Christlike features and to further answer the calls of the Vision and Mission of the Diocese through the Perjalanan Salib.

Archdiocese of Kuching
The team hopes that the Perjalanan Salib gives everyone the opportunity to encounter God's love and be renewed and empowered to be His witnesses.

Diocese of Sibu
Let the Perjalanan Salib be our shared dream and hope, inspired by the words of Jesus in John 12:32: “When I am lifted up from the earth, I shall draw all men to Myself.”

Diocese of Miri
As we prepare to celebrate our diocese’s 50th anniversary in 2026 and in addition to that, we eagerly await the ecological journey of the Perjalanan Salib in our midst to “berjalai segulai” among clergy, religious and laity to advance “peace and salvation of all the world”, building relationship with our triune God, with each other and with mother earth. All these combined celebrations give us a sense of our perfect unity with God and Creation. God bless us all.
