ROME: Pope Francis visited the statue of the Immaculate Conception in Rome’s Piazza di Spagna in the early morning of December 8, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to privately pray for the sick and suffering. Later, during the Angelus, the Pope urged Catholics to be like Mary in her humility.
The Pope placed a bouquet of white roses at the base of the column where the statue of the Blessed Mother stands, asking for her intercession for the miracle of a cure for the many sick and for healing for peoples suffering from wars and the climate crisis, according to a statement by the Holy See press office. The Pope also prayed for conversion, to melt the hearts of stone of those who build walls to separate themselves from the pain of others. — Agencie
