ROME: Rome’s hotels are already almost booked out for the April 27 canonisations of pope John Paul II and pope John XXII, according to the Booking.com website.

More than 82 per cent of hotels, pensions and other accommodations have been reserved for the keenly awaited event, which is expected to lure some two million pilgrims and tourists to the Italian capital.

Of the 3,178 hotels, bed & breakfasts and hostels on the website, only 509 still have vacancies that weekend.
“We are expecting to see them all sold out,” said the head of Rome’s hotel association Federalberghi Roma, Giuseppe Roscioli. --Ansa
