With deep sorrow, we join the world in mourning the loss of Pope Francis —a towering religious leader whose life embodied the highest ideals of compassion, justice and human dignity.  

Pope Francis modelled unwavering courage. His advocacy transcended religious boundaries and went on to become a global voice of conscience.

He tirelessly reminded us of our shared responsibility for humanity and the planet. He did not only express his empathy for the suffering and the marginalized, he was vocal in condemning economic inequality and challenging systems of oppression.

Pope Francis’ willingness to speak uncomfortable truths to power has inspired millions beyond the Catholic community.   

His final Easter message - a thunderous condemnation of violence in Gaza delivered through labored breath, encapsulated his life's work; moral clarity that pierced through diplomatic platitudes. Even as his strength waned, he continued blessing peacebuilders and comforting victims, demonstrating that true conviction outlasts physical capacity.

While his passing leaves a profound void, his legacy endures as a guiding light of morality in the global community.

The Secretariat of Solidarity for Palestine (SSP) extends our condolences and deepest sympathies to the Vatican, the College of Cardinals and all who found inspiration in his work. Let's honor his memory by continuing his pursuit of peace, justice, and compassion.
