“Show me the Church and I will show you heaven”

“Show me the Church and I will show you heaven.” This was the phrase by St John Vianney that struck many of the students who attended a recent talk on vocations on Aug 9. Fr Christopher and his team visited the Church of the Visitation during Vocation Sunday to promote and share their knowledge and experience about vocations and the many different religious orders in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur. 180 students from Forms 1-4 and their catechists were present during the talk that lasted for about an hour and a half.

Fr Christopher shared about his favourite saint, St John Vianney, who was a man of prayer. Sr Angeline shared her testimony on how she discerned and answered God’s call for her. Some teachers were also called to share their testimonies on how they answered God’s call to their vocation, to a married life. It was an eye opener for the students as they learnt that a vocation does not only mean the priesthood or religious life but, there are other ways of answering God’s call, such as in marriage. The talk ended with an empowering prayer for more vocations to the priesthood and religious life and for the students to be open to God’s call because the harvest is bountiful but the labourers are few.
