Sir Tan Sri Lim Leong Seng was a Travelling Auditor with the Cooperative Societies Department from 1939 to 1942.

KUALA LUMPUR (Herald Malaysia): Sir Tan Sri Lim Leong Seng was a Travelling Auditor with the Cooperative Societies Department from 1939 to 1942. He then worked with Syowa Gomu Kaisha in Ipoh as an Accountant from 1942 to 1945. After that, he continued as a Traveling Auditor from 1945 to 1949.

Through a span of 18 years (1949-1967), he held many positions with the Inland Revenue Department  with the highest being  Director General.

From 1971 to 1974 he was Tax Advisor to the Treasury at the Ministry of Finance.

In 1974, through the Technical Assistance Programme, Tan Sri Lim Leong Seng was part of the Tax Administration of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Washington D.C. and was Advisor to the Minister of Finance to the Government of Nepal.

In 1975, after his stint with the IMF in Nepal, he was the Special Commissioner of Income Tax at the Office of Special Commissioners of Income Tax.

At the age of 63, he began work in the private sector with Price Waterhouse & Co as a Tax Consultant in 1979. From 1982  to 1992 he was with Price Waterhouse Tax Services, first as an Executive Director and then as a Tax Adviser.

He held the position of Financial Administrator at the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur, from 1990 until his retirement, at the age of 99 in 2015.

He was also on the board of many organisations in the private sector such as: KUMB Finance, Malaysian Association of Certified Accountants, Catholic Charity Board, Malay sian Instiutie of Taxation to name a few.

Currently he is Director of Sri Seronok. He is also a council member of Hospis Malaysia, Stella Maris Secondary School and Sm Swasta Genting Highlands.

As recognition for his many endeavours, he received Federal awards such as the Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN), Johan Mangku Negara (JMN) and Panglima Setia Mangku in 1963, 1968 and 1970 respectively.

From the Vatican he received Bene Merenti in 1970 and in 2003 he was awarded the Knight Commander of the Order of St Gregory the Great which carries the title of  ‘Sir.’
