The SCORE 2017 programme was successfully conducted in St Anne’s parish recently.

SCORE means School of Community, Organisation, Renewal and Evangelisation, which also means living the Gospel in community and witnessing it through the ministry of evangelisation.

This programme consists of six sessions. The first four sessions were on Sunday afternoons. The fifth session was a weekend with renowned speaker Jude Antoine. The sixth session on Sunday was an outreach programme where the participants engaged in missionary activities by visiting underprivileged families.

On the first Sunday, the speakers were Parish Priest Msgr Henry Rajoo, who spoke on Hope: Mary, Star of all Nations and Deacon Lazarus Anthony on Hope: Welcoming God’s gift to humanity.

“Mary is the hope against all hopelessness,” said Msgr Henry, who also presented the four dogmas on Mary, to make the participants understand the Church’s teaching on Mary.

Fr Victor Louis presented the topic Christ the Hope on the fourth week.

Jude Antoine’s sessions were on Saturday and Sunday from 9.00am to 5.00pm. The room was full of fire with his presentation on evangelisation and mission.

“Every Catholic is a missionary. It’s time to ask what is your mission here on earth?

“In his 1990 encyclical, Redemptoris Missio, Blessed John Paul II declared that Evangelisation is a clear proclamation that, in Jesus Christ, salvation is offered to all as a gift of God’s grace and mercy.

“Our Christian faith is a true encounter and relationship with Jesus Christ. Look at St Francis Xavier and St Therese of Lisieux, who are the patron saints of missions. Read about them and their missionary work.”

Jude also shared on ways to start an evangelisation process. Then we participated in some activities and role plays to enhance what we had learned throughout the journey of the SCORE programme.

The session ended with a group photo and a conviction that all participants will become active missionaries of the parish.
