Tanglung Festival at St Henry’s Batu Pahat

BATU PAHAT (Herald Malaysia): St Henry’s Church held its Second Tanglung Festival on Saturday, Sept 26.

After the multilingual Eucharistic Celebration, everyone gathered outside the church to light the lanterns. Then, led by Parish priest Fr Lionel Thomas, the parishioners went in procession reciting the Luminous Mysteries in English, Mandarin and Tamil.

When they returned to the Church, each person was given a mooncake with a verse from scripture inserted. They read and reflected on the verse and then savoured the cake. They were also served Chinese tea.

Everyone then proceeded to the parish hall for refreshments. There was also a home-made lantern competition with 12 entries. Besides prizes for the top three, the other nine entries received consolation prizes too.
