One hundred and thirty-eight children between the ages of 11 to 13 finally received their First Holy Communion here in Stella Maris Parish, Tanjung Aru.

The celebration of the Sacrament of Eucharist was held over three days, Nov 18-20, in five separate sessions, adhering to the pandemic SOP.

Assistant priest Fr Peter Abas, who celebrated the Sacrament, commended the children for continuing their Catechetical Classes online despite the current circumstances.

He noted that the pandemic isolation has led the children to be oblivious to one another, and gave assurance for the changes that will take place once physical class sessions return.

In preparation for the First Holy Communion, an interview and Confession were held for the children with Fr Peter himself, three days prior to the celebration.

Fr Peter concluded the celebration with words of thanks to the Joyful Weekend Gathering Lower Level (JWGLL) facilitators, parents and especially single parents for continuing their work in moulding the faith of their children.--Catholic Sabah
