BEIJING: After learning about the life of St. Faustina Kowalska, a Hong Kong Catholic has translated the Polish saint's biography into Chinese and now hopes the saint's message of mercy will spread in mainland China.

Lam Kit-ping, a Hong Kong member of the Secular Institute Ancelle Mater Misericodiae (SIAMM), recalled her experience of translating the biography in a sharing with fellow Catholics in Taiwan on Aug. 8.

Lam was first moved by the biography of St. Pope John Paul II and St. Faustina and since then has made annual pilgrimages to Poland where the two saints were born.

Lam once visited the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy which St. Faustina belonged to, and the nuns there encouraged her to translate the saint's biography into Chinese.

They explained to her that even the diary of the saint, which recorded the appearance of the Divine Mercy of Jesus, was published in Chinese many years ago, but people should read the biography first so that they can understand more about merciful devotion.

Lam started to translate the biography in 2013 with the help of the nuns who gave the biography's copyright to SIAMM.

Lam has decided to donate all profits from the biography translation to assist with any extension construction work to the St. Faustina shrine in Poland.

Lam also gave the copyright to the Faith Press, a Catholic Church media and publication organization in China who published a Simplified Chinese version during the Year of Mercy in 2016.

She said it is her greatest joy to share the mercy of God to other people and she hopes this mercy can spread across the church in China.--Ucanews.Com
