Youths come together for their monthly gathering

On August 13, 2017, the Parish Youth Apostolic ministry held its 49th Youth Monthly Gathering (YMG) at the Holy Trinity hall with the theme The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. (Luke 1:49)

The YMG team and the Sabah Youth Day Ad Hoc team organised the follow-up of SYD 4. A total of 126 youths participated in this activity. Also present were Mario Domingo and Julita Kantod of the Family Life Ministry.

All the youth formed a human bridge to bear the SYD cross into the hall, after which they sang songs of praise and worship.

After a short break for lunch, Mr Roland Henry gave a brief presentation of the history of SYD. A video clip was shown on SYD-4 that took place at Holy Trinity Tawau, June 6-10. Miss Felsa May shared her experience as the Coordinator of the Local Organising Team (LOT) SYD-4, as well as being a participant. She also gave an insight of her experiences when she attended the Asian Youth Day in Korea in 2014.

The highlight of this programme was the sharings where the youth were divided into groups to discuss questions pertaining to SYD. Four participants were chosen from each group to give their sharings to everyone.

The activity continued with the youth writing down their hopes and wishes. These petitions were then placed in front of the cross and the icon of Mother Mary. They also had the opportunity to pray in groups or individually.

After the prayer session, Mr Hendry Roy provided more information on the activities at their next meeting.

The programme ended at 4.00 pm with the singing of the SYD theme song and a prayer led by Mr Roland Matthew. Before dispersing, all the participants helped clean up the hall.
