“Years ago, when my mother passed away, I was devastated. Lifewas not the same as before. I was a very dark person in a very dark place in my life. I have been searching for my purpose in life, faith and God but I found that all the gods I was seeking had abandoned me.

“I then thought to myself, Jesus came down to earth and lived among people and so he would know our pain and sufferings. I decided to give this Jesus and the Church a try. It was then I found serenity just by sitting inside the quiet church staring at the altar.

My church visits and prayers to Jesus became frequent as they gave me a calm state of belonging that I needed and my prayers were always answered. However, as much as my faith grew it never dawned on me to be baptised or to have a better understanding of the Catholic faith as I still had the notion that faith alone would carry me through and I did not need further introduction to God.

Until I met Ellenia, who showed me how to pray more profoundly and to interact with God and the meaning of the Eucharist and never let me lose sight of my faith in Jesus. After many years of her encouragement, it was in His time that I committed myself to take the next step to enroll in RCIA. I have never regretted since!

“RCIA, Fr Gerard Theraviam, the blessed facilitators and Ellenia’s family have given me the most wonderful experience through this journey! I now have better knowledge of the Bible, Church, the community and about life as a Catholic in a way that I had never experienced before.” -- Danielle
