Passion play staged by St Peter, Melaka

MELAKA (Herald Malaysia): “Jesus I love you even more…how you suffered for me…nothing can ever separate me from you anymore…I will follow you all the days of my life…”

Words such as these seemed to be on the lips of the mesmerised audience as the curtain fell after Scene 6, with Jesus saying, “It is I. Do not be afraid. Peace be with you.”

The impact created by the cast and crew of nearly 100 was like a real personal walk with Jesus through every moment of his life from The Last Supper to The Resurrection.

“This is so touching”, sobbed one as ‘Jesus’ walked down the aisle with all his bleeding wounds, wearing a crown of thorns and struggling under the weight of the Cross.

The many long hours of practice and sacrifice enabled the actors and the crew to present a play that touched the audience.

The ‘Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ’ revealed the passion and sense of belonging among the parishioners of St. Peter’s Church.
