At the launch of the Lenten Campaign at the parish of St Francis De Sales (SFDS), members of the Love Squad helped to create awareness of the poor and the marginalized. The members were able to get their parishioners involved in social activities at different levels. Armed with flyers and banners, they distributed campaign envelopes during Sunday services.
In addition, the members visited the Orang Asli village in Sauk Padi, which is about 40km away. There they had praise and worship, gotong royong around the chapel ground and games with the little children. They were also provided with food brought by parishioners who had followed the squad.
The group also visited the Hindu Ashramam (orphanage) in Sitiawan and had fellowship with the 40-odd residents. The members were really sad to see how the disabled and the homeless live. However, they were surprised that the residents there were able to smile and enjoy the company of the visitors. The Love Squad team thanked the Lord for what they had.
The Lenten campaign did not only cover the parish but was extended to all the Chapels under the care of the parish. All the projects undertaken by the squad helped deliver the message of Lent more meaningfully.
In the end, the members of the squad expressed their gratitude to Fr Vincent Paul, the parish priest for his support and guidance. They also thanked all the youths of the parish and others who had come forward to help. All the projects displayed the talents of the youth in the parish in making do with whatever resources they had in the best manner they could.
