For Lent, the Senior Citizens of the Church of Immaculate Conception gathered to listen to an inspiring and thought-provoking talk by Dr Steven Selvaraju. The senior citizens listened attentively to the questions which were put forward for serious deliberations.
The questions included:
1. What are you looking for? (John 1, 35-42)
2. Who do you say I am? (Mark 8, 27-29)
3. Why do you call me LORD and do not do what I tell you? (Luke 6:46)
4. Do you love me? (John 21, 15-17)
Though many of us present are in the autumn of our lives, we took an active part in all the discussions. Many salient points on humility, filial piety, and helping the poor were well received.
A video clip was shown about a father who sacrificed his son to save all the passengers in a train. It made everyone ponder over “His only begotten Son” who came to save us.
The talk moved everyone to lead a more prayerful life and to make this Lenten season a meaningful one.
