On May 18, parish priest of St Anne's Church, Fr Henry Rajoo celebrated a Mass for Children in three languages: Chinese, Tamil and English. The children participated with gusto, especially in the singing.

The highlight of the mass, however, was the homily delivered by Fr Rajoo in three languages. The topic of the homily was You Are Special and the main points were shown on the overhead screen. Initially, Fr asked three children, “Why are you special?” One of the answers was “Because God loves me”.

He then took out a one-hundred-dollar note and crushed it until it was almost invisible. He then unfolded it to its original shape. After that, he stepped on the note and picked it up. Fr proceeded to explain that though the note was dirty, crumpled, it had not lost its value — anyone would want it because the note’s number was intact. The note was unique, one of its kind. If there were another note with the same number, it would be counterfeit money.

Fr Rajoo then linked it to humans. Each person is special and whether a person is belittled, ridiculed, criticized, scolded or beaten, it should not affect the dignity of that person because each person has his/her own qualities, gifts and talents.

Most importantly, God loves each one of us as we are.
